Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Caret macOS app and the website at caret.dev (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Beta software
Caret is currently in public beta. The Service is provided as-is and may contain bugs, incomplete features, or unexpected behavior. We may add, change, or remove functionality at any time. Always keep backups of important work.
Your account
You are responsible for safeguarding any API keys, credentials, or account information you connect to the Service. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any law or the rights of others.
- Generate or distribute malware, spam, or content that is unlawful, harassing, or harmful.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service, except to the extent expressly permitted by law.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, security, or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service without our prior written consent.
Your content
You retain ownership of all code, files, prompts, and other content that you create, upload, or process through the Service (“Your Content”). You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring you have the right to use it.
Caret does not claim ownership of Your Content. We do not use Your Content to train models. To operate features you request (for example, sending a prompt to Claude or Codex), the Service transmits Your Content directly to the third-party provider you have configured.
Third-party services
The Service integrates with third-party providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Anysphere (Cursor), Sourcegraph (Amp), and opencode. Your use of those providers through Caret is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services and do not warrant their output or availability.
Fees
The Service is free to use during the public beta. We will give you reasonable advance notice (at least 30 days) before introducing paid plans or charging fees for features you currently use for free.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe suspension is necessary to protect the Service, other users, or third parties. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as-is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Caret or its contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If the changes are material, we will notify you in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
